Item description
Art Nouveau vase by Moritz Hacker and Johann Loetz Witwe, early 20th century. Important museum display vase from the height of the Art Nouveau period. Large vase with handles in Bohemian glass with embossed and chiseled silvered metal decoration. The glass has a very distinctive "Papillon" decoration: a transparent green glass with silver-yellow inclusions and iridescences. This important vase is the result of a collaboration between Moritz Hacker (Budapest 1849-1932), court jeweler, and Johann Loetz Witwe, a prominent art glass maker from Klostermühle, Bohemia, Austria-Hungary. Johann Loetz's works are among the most important examples of Art Nouveau. The vase features the mark of Moritz Hacker below the base. The vase is of unique refinement in artistic execution and perfectly blends all the stylistic canons of Art Nouveau; a true collector's piece.
