Item description
Spanish noble carriage trunk dated 1742 on the top inside the iron family coat of arms. Original condition. This trunk is a remarkable and historically significant piece of furniture that combines the craftsmanship and design aesthetics of the 18th century. It is made primarily from Spanish spruce, a durable and attractive wood that was commonly used to make furniture in the 18th century. The iron elements of the trunk include decorative hardware, hinges and reinforcing bands. Iron was used in furniture of this era both as a structural support and for ornamental purposes. The outside is a testimony to the Rococo style, characterized by elegance, flowing lines and ornamental decorations. The iron elements of the trunk, such as the hinges and locks, are finely crafted. They could be characterized by scrolls, curls or other decorative motifs typical of the Louis XV style. These pieces of iron not only serve functional purposes, but also contribute to the overall aesthetics of the piece. The inside of the trunk is spacious and well designed to accommodate a noble traveler's clothes, personal items or other belongings.
