Globo table by Luca Meda for Molteni&C, 2000s
Globo table by Luca Meda for Molteni&C, 2000s. "Simplicity is not good in itself, but certainly there is a simplicity that comes from the work of generations"; Luca Meda's aphorism is well suited to the design of the Globo table - designed by him - that is part of that important chapter in the history of Italian enterprise to which Meda contributed in particular by embracing the culture of design in the Molteni Group. He collaborated with one of the most important companies on the Italian design scene starting in the late 1970s after training at the Brera School of Art in Milan and later at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm. Globo is a ten-seat table for large dinner parties: it is fixed, elongated rectangular in shape and, despite its size, is light, rising on solid wood legs tied to the table top with tiny wooden cylinders. At the ends of the two short sides two walnut drawers of the same thickness as the top are inserted under the top. It shows no signs of wear or defects. It is made of walnut with solid wood legs.
