Table lamp mod. D750 Sprite-Lite by Richard Barr for Laurel (USA), 1960s. First published in Laurel's 1965 catalog and unanimously recognized as America's finest high-intensity lamp, the D750 model known as the "Sprite-Lite" impressed from its appearance with its streamlined sculptural form and versatility (it can be used as a table, desk, bedside or wall lamp thanks to the mounting hole under the base) and continues to impress today, sought after by collectors and design lovers worldwide. This true futuristic work of art that excels in both form and finish was specially designed by sculptor Richard Barr for Laurel Lamp Co. in the early 1960s, with a sculpted die-cast base (which incorporates the transformer whose weight gives the lamp excellent stability) and two-tone shade that houses a high-intensity bulb. Originally the Sprite-Lite was offered in black, white, green, sand, tangerine, mustard, and blue with Swedish brass details. Also available in polished chrome with black details or entirely in Swedish brass. The lamp is adjustable and can easily rotate at both the base and the shade.
The lamp offered here is black with polished chrome details, with all original components (including electrical system) and comes with 220V to 110V voltage converter and European plug. Laurel manufacture sticker still present inside lampshade. Fully functional with some light wear, the lamp is in excellent vintage condition. Bulb is included but replacement high intensity 12V bulbs are still widely available. Length of cord: 175 cm. Weight: 1.8 kg. Although the lamp works it is a vintage item so we recommend having it checked by a specialist before use.
