Item description
Polished brass hanging lamp mod. Fior di Loto by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Flos, 1960s (designed in 1962). Complete with its original box. New, it comes from historic furniture and design store. The Space Age style object mimics the shape of a UFO and provides mostly indirect lighting due to perforations on the body at the top and bottom. The lamp consists of two shaped metal parts that come together to provide a housing for the bulb (100W). The name Fior di Loto refers to its bud-like shape. Along with the Nictea and Nigritella lamps, it was part of Flos' inaugural collection in 1962. Notes: the white wire protecting the metal cable for hanging the lamp, which has probably deteriorated by remaining in its original packaging for years, is in need of replacement. A mark, "born" with the lamp, is barely visible in the lower part of the shade.
