Mahogany sideboard with central maple flap attributed to Gianni Moscatelli, 1950s

Archived

Two-door sideboard made of fine mahogany with a central flap in maple worked in the 'biscuit' style that conceals a mahogany interior. The side doors have rounded perimeter edges, mahogany interiors and are locked. The legs are tapered. Original hinges, keys and hardware. The slender, streamlined line, the lack of continuity between the sides and the edges of the front doors, the thick moulded glass handles, fixed with original screw covers in the same theme as the handles, are details that give this piece of furniture an image of elegance and refinement attributable to the style of the architect. Gianni Moscatelli. 1950s. The tobacco-coloured varnished glass top has been broken, a screwdriver cover and three brass tacks are missing. The sideboard needs to be dismantled, restored, reassembled and possibly completed with the crystal top. There is some woodworm on the maple door and on the wooden top which requires specific treatment. A table is available of the same model.
