Item description
This wonderful Biedermeier-style flap chest of drawers, dating from around 1830 and made in Austria, is a true work of art. Made of fine mahogany wood, it has breathtaking grains that create a magnificent visual spectacle. The chest of drawers has four drawers, each of which opens with gilded metal key locks, adding a touch of luxury and elegance. The sturdy and graceful feet supporting it lend stability and grace to the overall design. What distinguishes this chest of drawers is the top drawer, which is actually a flap. This distinctive element, typical of the Biedermeier period, reveals a hidden secret: inside the flap front are two compartments, each with four locked doors. These compartments conceal other treasures: small drawers of various sizes, adorned with gilded knobs. This is an extraordinary testimony to the ingenuity of the design of the time. The chest of drawers is in impeccable condition, having been recently and carefully restored. Minor scratches that may have accumulated over the years are consistent with its history and only add to its timeless appeal. This Biedermeier-style chest of drawers is much more than a piece of furniture: it is a living testimony to the art and design of the Biedermeier period. Add a touch of history and sophistication to your home with this exceptional antique piece.
