Item description
Particularly active during the 1960s and 1970s under the direction of Luciano Vistosi, the Italian glass manufacturer Vistosi is famous for its collaborations with cutting-edge Italian designers such as Gae Aulenti, Vico Magistretti, Enrico Tronconi and Angelo Mangiarotti. The company's origins date back to the family of Vincenzo Gazzabin of glassmakers based in Murano in the 16th century. Although the Gazzabin family was prolific for centuries, the decline of the Venetian Republic in the 19th century would disrupt the glassblowing industry in the region. In 1945, Guglielmo Vistosi, a Gazzabin heir, re-established the family glass factory under the Vistosi name. Guglielmo died in 1952, and was succeeded by his brother Oreste, and his two sons, Gino and Luciano.
