Item description
Italian painting from the first half of the 19th century. Work depicting a story from the Gospel of Luke, the healing of the centurion's servant. A commander had the fate of one of his slaves at heart and asked Jesus to heal him. The Gospel presents the Roman soldier as a good and humble man who does not take advantage of his position to obtain a favour. Oil painting on canvas, on first canvas, of great pictorial quality and particular workmanship. In fact, the perception of space is distorted because the author has realised the scene using a convex mirror. Painting as part of a pair (see photo and ask for the price of the pendant if still available). Wooden frame with carved and gilded elements of beautiful decoration, with some signs of time. Work in overall good state of preservation. Painted light D 69 cm.
