Volans 17'' television designed by Mario Bellini for Brionvega, designed in 1969. The set is made of white ABS plastic material with rounded and bevelled profiles resting on a cylindrical chrome plinth. The 17-inch cathode ray tube with 110° deflection is embedded in the plastic casing. To the right of the screen is the elliptical loudspeaker protected by a black plastic grille.
Below the loudspeaker are the controls. Mario Bellini is one of Italy's leading designers, winner of eight Golden Compasses and numerous other awards. He was editor of Domus from 1979 to 2019. For Brionvega, he also designed the Totem radio-phonograph but collaborated with companies such as Oivetti, C&B and many others. Brionvega is an Italian consumer electronics brand that revolutionised hi-tech in terms of design.
