Country landscape with figures, herds, classical ruins. Oil on canvas, cm. 59×73, inside a gilded wooden frame for a total of cm. 73×85. The painting, coming from a foreign private collection, was purchased in 1956 at the Giroux gallery and auction house in Paris. It depicts a family of farmers at rest, together with their animals, along the banks of a stream at the foot of imposing architectural ruins among which an elegant sculpture resting on a column stands out. In the background a small town with a walled enclosure.
