Item description
Wood and brass table lamp designed by Aldo Tura and produced by Macabo in the 1950s; the lamp base is also a smoking set. The wooden sculpture depicts a heron. The lamp has been rewired and is in working order. In the 1950s the Mid-Century Modern design movement was in full swing and Italian designer Aldo Tura created iconic pieces that reflected the era's emphasis on elegant lines, organic shapes and innovative materials. This Mid-Century Modern table and smoker lamp set exudes the unmistakable style of the era. The lamp base is made of rich, warm wood, highlighting the natural grain and organic beauty of the material. The wood has been skilfully shaped to form the elegant silhouette of a heron, with long brass legs supporting the lamp's structure. The small cylindrical shade is supported by the heron's beak, allowing for a soft, diffused light when illuminated. The smoking set includes an ashtray and a cigarette and match holder, also designed with the same attention to detail and craftsmanship. The brass ashtray adds a modern touch to the set. The ensemble serves as both a functional lighting solution and an elegant smoking accessory, embodying the Mid-Century Modern ethos of bringing form together with function, and is an eye-catching addition to any Mid-Century Modern interior.
