Item description

An original and iconic moulded glass bowl; its shape is simple and bold, skilfully proportioned, the result of intelligent aesthetic reflection. Chromium oxide and iron oxide were added during the fusion of the glass to achieve the beautiful emerald green colour. The Art Deco style bowl was produced in France between 1930 and 1935 by Pierre D'Avesn, an artist working at the Daum glassworks at the time, where he developed an innovative moulded glass technique, resulting in pieces of extraordinary transparency and brilliance such as our bowl. Pierre d'Avesn was born in 1901 and initially worked for Rene Lalique for 10 years. During this time, he designed the famous 'Snake' vase and the 'Tourbillons' vase, two of Lalique's most expensive collectors' items. In 1926, he left René Lalique and created his own designs; from 1930 to 1936, he was a valuable and creative collaborator of the Daum company and later had his creations produced at the Cristalleries de Saint-Remy. Considered the elite of the last Art Deco glassmakers, he died at the age of 90. Diameter 19 cm, height 9 cm. The bowl is in excellent condition, the artist's signature is present on the bottom, but is very worn and barely legible. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, polystyrene, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.
