Vase from the Cosmos series by Harri Koskinen for Venini, 2010. Signed and numbered under the base "Venini 2010 /6 / Harri Koskinen". Made in shades of green and smoky. Harri Koskinen entered the MoMA in New York even before he turned 30 with a simple light bulb "frozen" in two blocks of transparent glass (Block Lamp, 1996). An extraordinary expressive force capable of recalling its origins and at the same time reflecting on the contrasts of contemporary society. Koskinen (1970), Finnish from Karstula, graduated in Art and Design in Helsinki, is considered one of the main heirs of the Scandinavian masters, of whom he combines functional and austere forms in a conceptual design in which the in-depth knowledge of the different materials and the use of innovative production techniques become the means through which to satisfy the needs of both the end user and client companies. Alternative stylistic concepts deriving from a versatile and innovative design emerge in the varied world of his creations, including containers (Fatty), series of vases for Venini (Orbital, Gotico and Cosmos), speakers for Genelec, candle holders for Iittala (Atlas and Lantern) , Cozy for Muuto (2006), a table lamp from which iridescent reflections filter to create comfortable atmospheres.
