Item description
This exquisite 1950s bust captures the essence of the Neoclassical aesthetic, presenting a meticulous rendering of the timeless beauty of the Venus de Milo, a celebrated statue of ancient Greece. It comes from the plaster cast gallery of a Sicilian fine arts academy. The plaster casts were patinated in different ways, this one was made with gold, amber and brown; it was probably used for theater sets. Plaster was a common material for sculpture, known for its versatility and ability to capture fine detail. The use of gold patina involves applying a thin layer of gold-colored finish to the surface of the sculpture; this technique adds a luxurious and classic aesthetic to the piece. The bust exudes a sense of timeless beauty and classical elegance, paying homage to Sicily's artistic heritage and the enduring appeal of the Venus de Milo. It is in original condition with signs of use and age.
