Item description
Submerged Murano glass ashtray/paperweight in the style of Flavio Poli, 1960s. The great skills of Murano craftsmen manifest themselves in many different ways: some are skilled blowers, others know how to create sculptures and elaborate bowls freehand, some master the technique of shaping and polishing glass; from their hands are born some of the most intriguing geometric pieces of Murano, including this ashtray/paperweight. The piece, perhaps designed by the famous glass artist Flavio Poli, has the shape of an ingot with a hollowed out concave part. It was probably meant to serve as a paperweight/ashtray, as it is thick and quite heavy for its size. It is very well preserved with only small scratches to be expected given its age and use, all clearly visible in the photos. The piece will stand out nicely as a decorative object on a coffee table, shelf or desk.
