Gio Ponti probably needs no introduction: he was probably the most influential personality in Italian design and architecture for almost three decades, from the 1950s to the 1970s. In his long career he was able to leave an unforgettable imprint on furniture, tableware, architecture and interior decoration. Among his most famous works is the Sedia 699, designed for Cassina and aptly named 'Superleggera', given its feather-like weight of only 1700 grams per chair. Still produced and sold today, the Superleggera is one of the most iconic chairs ever. We are pleased to offer this original Superleggera chair, produced and delivered in the 1970s and now finished in smooth black velvet to complement the black lacquered wooden frame.
