A two-bay rosewood wall unit, extremely elegant and functional, designed by Poul Cadovius for Royal Systems (later renamed Cado), his furniture company. This universe of modular shelving had a profound effect on mid-century design in the 1950s and 1960s. A spacious cabinet with an internal shelf and well-integrated handles provides ample storage space, while five shelves help to display books and decorations. The compact free-hanging desk with two small comb drawers for documents and accessories is an excellent alternative to a traditional desk and is ideal for a home office space. It can be placed in a bedroom or living room, saving space and offering a remote work area. The set features brilliant joinery and exceptionally rich rosewood grain. The furniture is exquisitely framed by the slightly sloping edge profile.
Cadovius considered the Cado system one of his most exclusive and successful designs. The system is very easy to mount on the wall: each component is mounted on dowel holes without any visible suspension. The system is entirely modular, allowing all components to be arranged as desired. The illustrated configuration is only an example. The set consists of: a cabinet: H: 56 / W: 80 / D: 24 cm; a compact desk with drawers: H: 11 / W: 80 / D: 48 cm (inside height of drawers: 5 cm); 3 shelves: W: 80 / D: 22 cm; 2 shelves: W: 80 / D: 30 cm; 3 wooden rails: 205 cm long each. The wall unit has been checked by our team. It is in excellent condition vintage. The original 'Made in Denmark' engraving is preserved, confirming the authenticity of the set. We have checked that all mechanisms work correctly and smoothly. The wood has been refreshed with professional compounds. The wall cabinet is an example of Danish mid-century joinery and design of the highest quality.
