Coffee table from the Stringa series by Gae Aulenti for Poltronova, 1960s. It consists of a pair of tubular (diameter: 3 cm) chrome-plated steel tubes that form two semicircles on the floor. The base supports are composed of four chrome-plated steel spheres with threaded insides, screwed to the two tubulars. The smoked glass top rests directly on the ends of the tubulars, protected by seals. The chrome-plated tubulars are in excellent condition; they have been polished but show some slight imperfections due to time. Similarly, the glass also has some slight imperfections, visible only against the light. The smoked glass top, tubulars and four ball supports are original, no components have been replaced. Its soft 1960s lines and minimalist design make it an excellent component for furnishing the living room with a contemporary style.
