Madonna and sleeping Child, oil on canvas, 17th century

Painting from central northern Italy and dating from the 17th century, executed in oil on canvas, visible on the reverse side is an old rintelo executed on parchment paper. The painting depicts a sleeping Madonna and Child Jesus, an intense, almost accusatory gaze of the Virgin, turned towards the observer, as the figure of the sleeping Child, in particular in this case, with a hill in the background that can be traced back to Golgotha, is a representation of the premonition of the fate of Jesus Christ. The painting, albeit with visible age-related flaws, is consistent, in good condition and stable.
