Nimrod armchair by Marc Newson for Magis (2009). Structure in white polyethylene, seat and back cushions in polyurethane covered with ice white leather. Seat height: 40 cm. Nimrod's 70s-inspired retro style is at the same time thoroughly modern; the unique and unmistakable design which takes the shape of a telephone handset, the bold and fun colours, the original and playful lines are its strong points. Marc Newson is one of the most influential and precociously complete designers of his generation: at 37 he had already designed practically any type of object: chairs, objects of various kinds, home accessories, clothing stores, a bicycle, restaurants, a recording studio and the interior of a private plane, demonstrating great versatility and experience. His projects are part of the permanent collections of the MoMA in New York and the Design Museum in London.
