Mid Century, Blue velvet armchair by Júlia Gaubek, 1960s, Hungary

Very rare collector's piece! Completely restored, new Italian blue silk velvet and black silk painted legs. She completed her studies at MIF, with Gyula Kaesz and Lajos Kozma. His works were based on the carpentry craftsmanship that still existed at the time. It was important that the winners of the competition were sent to Brussels. As a result of this process, in the early 1960s, the 'sheepskin' design armchair was born (Budapest, Museum of Applied Arts), which was successfully produced for a decade and a half and appeared in many films as a characteristic object of the time. Enclosed catalogue photo with the registration number of the Hungarian Museum of Applied Arts. Dimensions H 105 x W 68 x D 52 cm.
