Gabbiano folding table by Pierluigi Ghianda, 1970s

Gabbiano folding table by Pierluigi Ghianda, 1970s. It is called like this because of its innovative opening system. Thanks to the pin located in the center of the top, the table closes and opens easily. Lifting the central pin activates the closing mechanism, thanks to two conductors that activate the metal hinges. The supports are designed so that, once the mechanism is activated, they can close like a wallet to facilitate closing the end of the top. The structure is made of wood while the top is made of formica. The table is supported by four parallelepipeds joined together. The peculiarity is its geometric rigor and executive perfection which make it a practical but at the same time elegant and modern object.
