Item description
Bronze sculpture depicting the face of a smiling little girl, made in France in the second half of the 19th century. The technique is that of lost wax, which consists in creating a clay mold on a wax cast and then, after having let the wax escape, pouring the molten bronze; the mold is then broken to recover the casting, which is therefore unique and not mass-produced. On her shoulder we can read the signature "Péchin d'aprés Donatello". The sculpture can be separated from the red marble base and has a plaster casting inside with two holes that allows it to be positioned stably on the two iron nails that come out of the base. The bronze has a wonderful burnished patina. Height excluding base: 35 cm.
