Item description
Etching by Cesare Pascarella (Rome, 1858 – Rome, 1940) with study of horse heads, 1878. The two heads of donkey and horse are a detail taken from life, the result of sensitivity for traditional and romantic data. Pascarella, after his first activity as a painter and engraver, especially an animal rights activist, among the most significant of the «XXV della Campagna Romana» group, dedicated himself to dialect poetry. The ability to describe the detail with a clear and confident sign is notable. Alianello Collection stamp on the reverse (Lught 5K). Fresh and clear impression with delicate background glaze and monotype, printed on thick white paper with ivory colored background. Good margins. Perfect state of preservation. A mutilated specimen is at the Davoli Collection in Reggio Emilia.
