Floor lamp mod. 0024 Grande by Gio Ponti for Fontana Arte, early 2000s. Dimmable diffused floor light with sliding switch. Transparent tempered glass disks, central cylindrical diffuser in sandblasted heat-resistant glass, chromed metal structure. It is in perfect condition, as can be seen from the attached photos; ready to use. Gio Ponti (1891-1979) was an influential Italian architect and designer, among the best known on the Italian and global scene. Having graduated in architecture from the Polytechnic of Milan in 1921, he began his career by collaborating with various architects and engineers, actively participating in exhibitions and founding the magazine Domus. He received numerous awards for his work in design and architecture, including the Mussolini Prize in 1934. Ponti left a significant imprint on industrial design and architecture, creating emblematic works such as the Pirelli Skyscraper in Milan. His legacy includes a vast archive of drawings and projects, preserved at the Communication Studies and Archive Center in Parma. FontanaArte, an Italian company founded in Milan in 1932 by Luigi Fontana and Gio Ponti, specializes in glass processing and the creation of furnishing accessories, becoming a point of reference in Italian design. Known for the processing of curved crystal and the production of lighting, it has gone through various artistic phases under the direction of illustrious names such as Ponti, Pietro Chiesa, Max Ingrand and Gae Aulenti. After various corporate changes, in 2016 it was acquired by the holding ItalianCreationGroup, continuing to represent excellence in the lighting and furniture sector with iconic and innovative pieces, maintaining a strong commitment to the environment.
