French wooden sculpture from the mid-19th century. Carved work in dark patinated mahogany-stained pear wood depicting a religious subject, specifically a Madonna of good quality. Sculpture of beautiful size and impact, ideal for display above a column, dresser or large desk. It has a missing right hand and minor signs of time (see photos). The eyes are made of stained glass (see photos). Under the base are small holes (see photos) to attach the work to a base, now absent. In beautiful patina and structurally solid, good state of preservation.
