Plaster bas-relief with Roman wedding ceremony, 1950s

Large plaster bas-relief from the mid-20th century depicting an ancient Roman wedding ceremony. There are two young men shaking hands, a very intimate gesture used only for weddings, since the Romans in greetings never touched each other. The other figures on either side appear to be deities related to the marriage tradition. There are also two figures intent on carrying animals for sacrifice or intended for the banquet. Bas-relief with great charm, ideal for a large living room or study. In beautiful patina with some minor lacks and signs of time (see photos). Structurally solid work, overall in good state of preservation.
