Item description
German birch-root veneered spruce trumeau, late 18th century. Characterized by a double body with raised base and horizontal serpentine front and vertical on the sides. It rests on four feet in the shape of a bird of prey's claw which grasp a sphere and support the structure made up of three large drawers, separated by walnut wood frames, and two upper doors. The handles and keyhole plates are all bronze. The uprights on the sides and the front doors are decorated with rosewood inlays with Rococo motifs that recall the pattern of the large maple beam that frames the birch-root. The doors, however, are decorated with oriental figures: flowers and birds on the outside, baroque tempera motifs on a green background on the inside. Good condition with light signs of time and wear.
