Item description

Pair of bedside tables most likely designed by Paolo Buffa, mid-1950s. Buffa is known for creating designs that blend neoclassical style with Art Deco motifs and modernist principles, which is clearly evident in these bedside tables. The bedside tables are characterized by their exquisite shape, vintage brass ornaments and opulent inlays. The carved walnut wood with walnut veneer and the slightly rounded side panels create a beautiful frame for the drawers. The rich wood grains, particularly evident in the squared veneer on the drawer fronts, showcase the designer's love of high-quality materials and craftsmanship. The original inset gray glass tops contrast beautifully with the rich wood tones, adding visual lightness and a more modern look to the piece. The additional clear glass shelf is ideal for placing your phone while charging overnight. These bedside tables are a true example of how traditional design began the transition to modernism. On the bottom of the glass there is an original stamp with the date 20 SEPTEMBER 1957; however, company details are confusing. The bedside tables have been checked: they are in excellent original condition with signs of use due to their age. Buffa furniture rarely includes identifying marks, making them difficult to authenticate. However, knowing his works and his specific aesthetic, it is believed that these bedside tables were most likely designed by him. Internal height of the drawers: 7 cm. Height from the ground: 31 cm.
