Item description
Ceramic vase handmade by a ceramist artist in Poland in the second half of the 20th century. It has an original metallic brown glaze, typical of the activities of the "Kamionka" ceramic products cooperative from Łysa Góra. The tectonic and naturalistic character of the decoration is typical of the ceramics of the 1950s and 1970s. Ceramic artists in the 1950s-70s enthusiastically experimented with shape, ceramic masses, glazing techniques and even firing temperatures, thanks to which they achieved very interesting effects. The ceramics of this period are characterized by simple shapes and intense, expressive colors. Base diameter: 7 cm. Łysa Góra is a small village located in Podkarpackie Voivodeship. The fame of this location is linked to the activities of the ceramic products cooperative "Kamionka", founded in the 1940s by local activist Franciszek Mleczko. The management of the factory was taken over by the famous Polish artist-ceramist Bolesław Książek. A technical school for ceramics was established next to the factory. Łysa Góra ceramics have gained great popularity not only in Poland but also abroad. In the 1950s, artists from Warsaw began to arrive at the factory. Łysa Góra became the center of Polish artistic craftsmanship. Jugs, flower vases, plates, tiles and larger ceramic artefacts were produced. In the laboratories we experimented with the creation of new glazes and the research of new technologies. The factory completed a large number of orders for facade decoration and to this day many Polish houses are decorated with Łysa Góra "mosaics".
