Item description

We advise you to read the entire description, as we try to provide detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. A particular and interesting pair of Italian bedside tables in walnut-root; for each bedside table, the upper shelf is rectangular with a single, very rounded corner on which a black glass is placed; the entire lower structure follows the lines of this design; the functional space underneath is divided by a large compartment closed by a door and by an external space with a small, practical visible shelf; the bedside tables do not have feet but a base made of black lacquered wooden planks, a solution that increases solidity and stability; the doors are fitted with a simple and elegant bakelite knob, a very fashionable material at the time; the compartment closed by the very large door is made of wax-polished walnut and both bedside tables have a practical shelf in the centre of the space. Skilled cabinet-makers made these Art Deco bedside tables in a perfect and meticulous manner in a workshop in Lissone (Monza-Brianza-Italy) between 1935 and 1940. The Lissone area has always been famous for the production of high-quality joinery. The walnut-root design, with the characteristic colour colours of this wood, gives our bedside tables a unique and exclusive elegance and refinement. The craftsmen were inspired by the desire to create two objects of limited size with strong, simple lines and gave the bedside tables a timeless elegance; their design plays between austerity and rigour and their exaggerated linearity gives the objects a dynamic and majestic character. European walnut (Juglans Regia) is by far one of the most valuable and fascinating woods, which makes it particularly popular in the luxury furniture sector; walnut burl looks like a collection of twisted wood fibres that give the wood its characteristic hardness and compactness; burl also has a unique aesthetic value, as it is very elegant and refined thanks to its many ever-changing natural grain patterns. The bedside tables have been hand-treated using ancient restoration techniques by our team of craftsmen and are in excellent condition. Measures width 50 cm, depth 33 cm, height 60 cm. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, polystyrene, etc.) to ensure maximum protection and safety of the items.
