Wingback armchair by Karl Nothhelfer for Schörle & Gölz, 1950s

Extremely rare, collector's quality! One of the most beautifully designed Wingback chairs, designed by Prof. Karl Nothhelfer for Schörle & Gölz in the 1950s. The wooden frame is made of solid cherry wood with the original handmade Shellack and rivets. The upholstery is also the original high-quality olive-green Mohair velvet! Extra design and quality, impeccable collector's condition. The upholstery has been chemically cleaned. H 73 cm x W 69 cm x D 58 cm. Mohair is an exceptional fibre variant that is usually extracted from the hair of the Angora goat. Its smooth fibres add a distinctive lustre and shine to the upholstery, while providing a desirable look during formal or informal occasions such as cocktail parties or black tie events. These fabrics tend to be crease-resistant. Mohair is one of the most expensive types of wool. Together with cashmere and Suri alpaca wool, this type of goat's wool has one of the highest prices on the market, but the cost of this fabric has remained essentially stable as both supply and demand for mohair wool have decreased at about the same rate.
