Hanging teak bookcase by Poul Cadovius for Cado (Denmark), 1960s. Cadovius is the father of one of the first wall shelving systems characterized by its flexibility and space-saving qualities. The furniture proposed here features a minimalist design, brilliant joinery and great attention to detail, particularly visible in the well-integrated handles. The bookcase includes a spacious cabinet with two compartments with sliding doors and four internal removable shelves. The height of the shelves can be adjusted and all shelves can be removed if not needed. There is also a console with two elegant drawers and storage compartments and two shelves that provide plenty of space for storing accessories and displaying books and decorations. This shelving system is entirely modular: all parts measure 80 cm wide and can be arranged as desired. The configuration shown is just an example. The cabinet with sliding doors is 51 cm high, 80 cm wide and 40 cm deep. The console with drawers is 24 cm high, 80 cm wide and 30 cm deep; the drawers are 10 cm high. One shelf is 20 cm deep, the other 24 cm. The two wooden uprights are 197 cm long. Brass brackets. The bookcase has been checked and is in excellent original condition with minimal signs of use related to its age. All mechanisms and mounting system work properly and smoothly. The wood has been cleaned and preserved with layers of Danish oil to enhance the beauty of the teak wood grain.
