Hanging teak bookcase with desk by Poul Cadovius for Cado (Denmark), 1960s. Single bay bookcase suitable for working from home; it offers ample work and storage space. Perfect for the living room or bedroom, this piece of furniture is a fully modular shelving system. All elements are 80 cm wide and can be arranged as needed. The lockable cabinet can be used both as a secrétaire and as a bar cabinet; it features two internal compartments: one provides the perfect space for storing a laptop and another with two small drawers for accessories. Typical of Cadovius' design, the thin teak slat front finish is found in most of its wall units, as well as pieces such as the Governor sofa. This very decorative element made by Cado is a classic that will never go out of fashion. One shelf is 24 cm deep, two 20 cm. The cabinet with flap door and lock is 42 cm high, 80 cm wide and 37 cm deep (when fully open it is 79 cm deep). The two wooden uprights are 198 cm long. The hardware is made of brass. The bookcase has been checked and is in excellent original vintage condition. The opening mechanism and drawers work smoothly and all components fit together well. The wood was rejuvenated with Danish oil to enhance its grain. Small signs of use remain which do not ruin the aesthetics but only confirm the authenticity of the bookcase.
