Item description
Coffee table by Marco Zanuso for Zanotta, 1960s. Composed of two crystal shelves and 18/8 stainless steel legs. This coffee table, born as an ideal mix of research and innovation, is the result of an advanced reflection of the automotive industry, in which crystal and stainless steel are fixed for the first time. The idea was born by Aurelio Zanotta, observing the deflectors of cars, simple pawls glued to the crystal. It was then decided to apply the system to his production, entrusting the task to the best of the architects/designers of the times, Marco Zanuso, who then found the solution to attach the steel legs to the crystal top: simply by gluing four stainless steel discs directly on top (using an unprecedented technique, in which the glue was cured with UVA rays), threaded on the inside, and then screwing the legs to them. The chrome plating on the legs is oxidized, the glass slightly scratched.
