Item description

Alfredo Barbini, born in Murano in 1912, was the descendant of a family of glazing dating back to the seventeenth century. He collaborated with numerous furnaces such as that of Francesco Zecchin and Napoleon Martinuzzi and later became artistic director of the Vetreria Gino Cenedese. It was inventor of a new technique called "solid", which consisted in sculpting blocks full of still hot glass; His most famous works were the "aquariums" where colored glass dowels were inserted inside the colorful glass blocks of flora and marine fauna. This ashtray or empty pockets is the representation of the excellent work and experience that this artist has produced. Very good condition.
