 Black- Headed Gull is  a modern artwork realized in 1870 by the British artist Alexander Francis Lydon (1836-1917) . Woodcut print, hand colored, published by London, Bell & Sons, 1870.  Name of the bird printed in plate. This work is part of a print suite realized for F. O. Morris after drawings by Richard Alington, to create an inventory of British Birds.Good condition except for light yellowing of paper due to time but with very bright and vivid colors. Alexander Francis Lydon (1836-1917) was a British watercolor artist, illustrator and engraver of natural history and landscape. He worked for the printer Benjamin Fawcett, where he had been an apprentice from an early age. He collaborated on a large number of works with Rev. Francis Orpen Morris who wrote the text.
