Beautiful pair of armchairs designed by architect Florence Knoll in 1954. Sartorial workmanship with capitonné upholstery with button embossing. Reminiscent of the Barcelona of L. Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich. They are upholstered in soft embossed fabric from the Classic Boucle collection, in colour: Pumpernickel. The model is in the Knoll catalogue. The price is for a new chair is 7000 €/armchair. These armchairs are in excellent condition, minimal signs, dare we say from display, marked with the fabric "Knoll" with the engraving on the base of the metal legs "Knoll Studio". They come from a collector's private residence. The structure is an internal frame made of solid wood. The armchair base has a square section with a polished chrome finish. The seat and back cushions are made of cold-moulded polyurethane foam. The fabric is from the Classic Boucle collection, colour: Pumpernickel. The dimensions of the armchair are width: 81 cm, height: 80 cm, depth: 82 cm. Designed by the American entrepreneur Florence Knoll in 1954, the Florence Knoll Lounge Chair is inspired by the German master's Barcelona armchair and the rhythm and proportions of modern architecture of the 1950s. It displays an essential geometric profile, constructed with a solid wood and exposed metal frame, raised on tubular steel legs and softened with Knoll fabric upholstery. Consistent with all of the designer's projects, the Lounge Collection reflects the objective perfectionism and rational approach to design that Florence Knoll assimilated from her master and mentor, L. Mies van der Rohe (1886-1969).
