Item description
Pair of fine paintings from the first half of the 18th century. Oil on canvas works attributable to the Italian painter Antonio Mercurio Amorosi (1660-1738), lacking authenticity. He worked mainly in Rome and, following the taste for bambocciate, executed popular genre scenes inspired by the life of the common people. These paintings are in fact not true portraits but figures of popular character that were much in demand among the Roman aristocracy. In the pair in question we see a beautiful lady with a parrot and a boy playing the flute, of remarkable pictorial quality and great charm. Pair of paintings that are part of a very rare group of eight paintings (see photo and ask for block price if still available). Works that have undergone restoration with re-staining, replacement of the frame and repainting in some small places. Overall in good state of preservation. Light paintings H 63 x W 54 cm.
