Item description

Pair of chairs and pair of armchairs Cesca by Marcel Breuer, circa 1970s. Cesca represents an iconic mix of form and function, embodying the pioneering spirit of modernist design. Designed in 1928 by Breuer, master of the Bauhaus school, it is celebrated for its innovative use of materials and elegant simplicity. These particular Cesca chairs feature a natural beech structure with a harmonious light color, which enhances their elegant and airy aesthetic. Natural beech adds durability and a warm, understated tone that pairs perfectly with the minimalist design. The structures are made of tubular steel, demonstrating Breuer's revolutionary use of this material to create a seamless cantilevered design. This construction not only provides exceptional comfort and support but also gives the chairs their distinctive and timeless silhouette. Adding to their charm, two of these Cescas are equipped with armrests, offering further comfort. The seats and backs are made of woven cane, a natural material that complements the light color scheme and adds a touch of warmth and texture to the design. This combination of steel, beech and cane highlights the balance between industrial and organic elements that Breuer has mastered. Most Cesca chairs produced from the 1950s to the present day in Italy were not officially licensed. However, Italian craftsmanship from the mid-20th century demonstrates that there are durable and very well-made products. The set is in fantastic original condition, despite the passage of time, it remains in perfect original condition. Absolutely minimal signs of use are typical of furniture from this era. We just cleaned them up making sure they can serve in their full charm for decades to come. The two armchairs are 80 cm high, 58 cm wide and 52 cm deep. Armrest height: 72 cm. Seat height: 45 cm. The two chairs without armrests are 78 cm high, 45 cm wide and 55 cm deep. Seat height: 45 cm.
