Item description

This charming Scandinavian dressing table was manufactured by Viken Møbelfabrikk and dates from 1957. It was most likely designed by Fredrik Kayser, who collaborated with Viken between 1956 and 1966. It is a wonderful example of high-quality Norwegian mid-century joinery last, combined with elegance and functionalism. Crafted from a beautiful and durable teak wood, the dressing table features slightly rounded edges and tapered legs, giving the structure a light weight. The brass feet harmonize well with the warm color of the wood. The essence of the piece is the mirror, composed of three parts: a central mirror flanked by two adjustable side mirrors, which allow multiple angles and a complete view. Two compartments hidden behind masterfully crafted tambour doors provide ample storage space, increasing the practicality of the table. All these elements add a touch of warmth and coziness to any interior. Despite the passage of time, the dresser is in excellent original period condition. The drum door mechanism and mirror hinges work without problems. The wood has been cleaned and protected with professional compounds and the mirror is intact. Although it can be assumed that the dresser was designed by other designers or adapted to factory requests, departing from Kayser's usual style, the manufacturer's stamp on the back confirms the authenticity of its origin. Other dimensions: height from the ground: 40cm; internal height of the drawer: 3.5 cm; space under the table top: H: 65 cm / W: 47 cm / D: 35 c.
