Item description

Distinctive and functional, this furniture system with a unique character was available in pre-configured options or could be customised using flexible modular components to create L, S, T and U configurations. The worktop rests on high-precision die-cast aluminium spokes. The leg supports, made of steel and enamelled in black shadow earth, feature aluminium bases with 0.6 cm adjustable feet. With the worktop available in two different shapes and made of glass, stone or laminated materials (wood), the Burdick tables presented a functionality with sophisticated character to any space. The central aluminium bar gives the Burdick table designed by Bruce Burdick its unmistakable profile. Presenting customisable variants with a range of components (drawer units, footrests, etc.), this table with its sophisticated and also distinctive character was highly functional and infinitely adaptable. Aesthetically attractive and made of high-quality materials and intelligent design... it is possible to run cables along the spokes and the aluminium base. Modern as early as mid-century In 1923, the Michigan Star Furniture Company became what we know today as Herman Miller, when D.J. De Pree and his father-in-law Herman Miller bought the company. De Pree renamed the company after Miller. By the mid-20th century, the Herman Miller brand had already become synonymous with 'modern' furniture. De Pree first hired designer Gilbert Rohde in 1930, ushering in an era of modern, problem-solving design. Fifteen years later it was the turn of George Nelson, who changed the destiny of the entire company. Inspired by design and with the support of De Pree, Nelson brought in his contemporaries, such as Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard and Isamu Noguchi, to produce furniture that became modern classics. Herman Miller, an innovator in contemporary interior furniture, joined the MillerKnoll collective in 2021, an unprecedented brand platform created to design the world we live in.
