Toni Zuccheri

Son of an artist, (his father, painter Luigi Zuccheri, passed on to him the passion for animal subjects), Toni Zuccheri (San Vito al Tagliamento, Pordenone, 1936 - 2008), graduated in architecture in Venice. Specializing in the art of glass, Zuccheri is mainly known for his collaboration with Venini in the 60s, a decade in which he created for the brand colorful series of poultry animals, fish and birds, together with organic vases, made of polychrome glass through meticulous techniques such as murrine, combined with an ironic style and dynamic shapes. A leading designer for other well-known producers, from Barovier & Toso to Seguso Viro, Zuccheri has written an important chapter in the history of Murano glass, and his works can be found in the collections of prestigious museums around the world: the Murano Glass Museum, the MOMA and the Guggenheim in New York, the Okkaido Museum in Sapporo, and the Metropolitan Tien Art Museum in Tokyo.
