How about re-thinking your interiors in terms of color? You can certainly find some inspiration from “Colour Rush!”, the interesting new show at Vitra Design Museum: Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis has catalogued 400 hundred objects by color from the the museum’s collection, giving lifto an overwhwlming installation.
Color fills our world unleashing emotions, assisting orientation, indicating functions or perils, marking cultural, political, professional, or religious identities. Each of us perceives colours in their own way, but nonetheless all cultures have symbols and traditions distinguished by specific hues. This is why colors play a central role also in interior design, fashion and public spaces.
The exhibition celebrates color in design across all periods and styles, and it is hosted in the spaces of the Vitra Schaudepot, promising to be an almost sensorial experience where visitors will discover contrasts, tonalities, intensities, and learn to understand the added effect of material and surface.
From Le Corbisier to Verner Panton, documentation, sketches and notes enrich the show offering fresh insights into the colour concepts of the big mastersof design from the past up to the present time.
The examination of colour is crucial in the work of Sabine Marcelis, whose designs stand out for their shiny surfaces, pastel colour gradients and refractions effetcs.
