Item description

Please read the entire description carefully, as we aim to provide you with detailed technical and historical information to ensure the authenticity of our items. This elegant, burnished metal lamp features a cube-shaped base that supports a perfect round, lenticular geometric figure via a brushed and nickel-plated brass fitting. Above it is another tubular and flared brass fitting, surmounted by the light point. The overall design is aesthetically linear and pleasing. This lamp was made in France by Maison Barbier between 1960 and 1965. Maison Barbier was a small factory located in the heart of Paris, on Rue du Pré aux Clercs, near Boulevard Saint-Germain. Founded and run by Philippe Barbier, it was a Parisian company known for its lighting and furniture creations in the 1960s and 1970s. Philippe Barbier, a renowned 20th century designer, is recognised for his craftsmanship and innovative designs. Although he designed several pieces of furniture and tables, he became famous for his original lamps. With their innovative, unusual and timeless shapes, these lamps became popular all over the world and are still much loved by collectors. Philippe Barbier's lamps were appreciated not only for their unique design, but also for the quality of their materials and craftsmanship. His creations were characterised by elegant curves and distinctive shapes that made them popular for both domestic use and film productions. In particular, famous film directors often used Barbier's lamps on their sets. Philippe Barbier's most iconic lamps are distinguished by the fine materials used, such as chrome-plated and burnished steel and travertine. His lamps combine neoclassical design elements with a modern, spatial touch, resulting in elegant and timeless pieces. Our lamp has a modern and contemporary design, essential yet refined: a unique, elegant and sophisticated piece of furniture. As you can see in the photo, in addition to this one in burnished metal, we have another one identical in shape but made of travertine, which is much heavier (also visible on this platform). The lamp is in good condition and is supplied without shade. The electrical installation is new, but the wiring is European; voltage compatibility in other countries should always be checked by an electrician before use. Width: 21 cm, depth: 12 cm, height: 59 cm. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, polystyrene, etc.) to ensure maximum protection and safety of the items.
