Item description
The print is a lithograph with a print run of 99 copies, in very good condition. The lithograph is numbered and hand signed by the artist in the lower margin on the front. The total number of copies available is 17, including three artist's proofs. Peter Angermann is a German artist born in 1945 in Rehau, a small village in Bavaria. He studied painting from 1966 to '68 at the Bildenden Künste Academy in Nuremberg and then concentrated his studies in the following years, until '72, at the Düsseldorf Art Academy where he met, in the classes of Joseph Beuys and Gerhard Richter, Jan Knap and Milan Kunc.Together, the three artists founded the Normal group, an art movement that advocates the rejection of individualism and therefore contemplates group art creation. The ambition of Angermann, Knap and Kunc is to overcome 'academic avant-gardism' by proposing a more accessible art, far from the elitist world. The works are signed in the name of the group and represent exotic or metropolitan universes in bright colours with a personal communicative force that immediately reaches the viewer, openly manifesting an aversion to intellectual tendencies.
