Brown patina bronze sculpture depicting a man hiding on a steel base. Signed V. G. and dated 1976 The dimensions are as follows: the base 38 x 50, 63 cm high, the sculpture 71 cm high. Born in 1935 in Pomigliano d'Arco. He lives and works in Rome where for several years he held the chair of Plastic Decoration at the Academy of Fine Arts. He studied with the sculptor L. Gelli, in turn a student of L. Andreotti, at the Art Institute of Naples where he later taught stone working and life drawing. Also in Naples, two meetings are important for his training: the one with V. Pratolini and P. Ricci. In Rome, supported by A. Trombadori and introduced by V. Pratolini, he exhibited for the first time at the Capannina dei Porfiri (1957), subsequently frequenting D. Micacchi, D. Morosini, A. Del Guercio and the studio of P. Fazzini . From 1965 to 1968 he was part of the Il Girasole Collective. He participated in the Quadrennials of Rome (1960,1965, 1972), in the (1971), at the Milan Biennale (1993). He held solo shows in Rome, in the Galleria la Nuova Pesa and in the Galleria il Gabbiano and in Milan at Gallery 32, where in 1967 he was presented in the catalog by R. Guttuso. Among the permanent works in public spaces he created the gate for the Secci Chapel in Terni, with the stained glass window by R. Guttuso designed by the architect M. Ridolfi (1972), the statue for Piazza Primavera in Pomigliano D'Arco (1998). Between 2002 and 2003 he designed and created a sculpture for Alberto Sordi presented in the newspaper "il Messaggero" with an article by Costanzo Costantini. Since March 2003 he has worked on drawings and sculptures for the creation of a solo show at the Crocetti Foundation in Rome in 2010 and then in Teramo in the “Carino Gambacorta” room of the Banca di Teramo. In confirmation of the criticism of his artistic career he received numerous official awards including: the First Prize at the Rome Quadrennial (1965), the Budapest International Prize for small sculpture (1978) and the President of the Republic Prize for Sculpture (1986) on designation of the National Academy of San Luca of which he has been a member since 1999.
