Item description
Elegant portrait painting from the late 19th century. Oil work on canvas depicting a splendid woman in oriental dress from the belle époque. Painting signed by the English painter Walter Herbert Roe and dated 1898, lacking authentication. A painting of notable pictorial quality, particularly noteworthy is the creation of the architectural elements in the background with highly fascinating Orientalist style details. 20th century frame in carved, lacquered and gilded wood, with some signs of aging. Work already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and color recovery in small spots. Overall in excellent state of conservation. Light painting H 183 x W 106 cm.
