Item description
In 1921, inspired by his experience as a porter at The Savoy hotel in London, Guccio Gucci founded his eponymous luggage atelier on Via della Vigna Nuova in Florence. His vision combines Tuscan craftsmanship with English elegance. These early years established the origins of the brand in the travel and exploration sector, elements that are still central to the heritage of the Maison today, which between the 50s and 60s, with the opening in Paris and New York, would take on that international character which today helps to represent Made in Italy excellence and luxury. As long as the Maison was in the hands of the Gucci family, these bronze castings were placed next to the entrances of the owned shops. Guccio Gucci used this Bronze effigy which was the family coat of arms. The effigies for sale here are a single bronze cast, coming from one of the properties of the Gucci family. The typical oxidation tending towards the blue color of Bronze ensures the purity of the material and was given to it by long exposure to the elements and the passage of time. This oxidation can however be removed by polishing with a wire brush like any other bronze artefact. The price refers to a single piece.
